Taijiquan
Taijiquan is an ancient Chinese movement art. Originally developed as a martial art system it has a wide spectrum of self defence techniques. Circular, smooth and continuous movements of Taijiquan are based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. As an exercise-like system it deeply affects all parts of the body so that energy can flow freely and the body is free of blockages. Its aim is the cultivation of life style, health and the holistic development of mind, body and soul.
Health, inner strength, self-defence
At the Taijiquan School Heidelberg both the traditional Yang Style and the Chen Style are taught.
In both styles training consists of learning the sequence of connected movements called the form. Great importance is attached to achieving a free and smooth flow of movement done with great care. This is followed by learning the internal principles, the theory and practice of energy flow.
Further information about these two styles of taijiquan may be found here: chen style and here: yang style.
